I have been involved in the equestrian industry for many years as a dressage, and show jumping coach. I teach adults, working on-line as well as face to face with clients.
As an author, I have written Equestrian books, plus produced the series of Claire Lilley Training Programme DVDs, details of which are on this site.
I specialise in the psychology of the relationship between horse and rider, coaching riders to improve confidence and to help them to overcome the trauma of riding accidents. The aim is to help riders to unleash their potential!
My own riding history
I learnt to ride as a pony mad child on a lead-rein at Ferring Riding Stables. This is Apollo, my most favourite pony.
From a riding school background, I gained the BHSAI, and later trained in Germany as a Bereiter, becoming an accomplished show jumper, and dressage rider. This involved training and competing horses at all levels up to Grand Prix.
It was in Germany that I gained a love for the Spanish horse, which continues today. I was the luckiest girl alive when Carina Amadeus, my very own Lippizzaner came into my life as a yearling. We reached the heights of Grand Prix together, working it out as we went along. Dreams really do come true.
Today, my horses are part of the family, having been with me since they were all youngsters, having enjoyed many years competing in dressage at all levels.
In-hand work, lungeing and long-reining are fundamental to training the horse, and I can include this in training sessions.
Riding is very much about the partnership with the horse, so working on improving the rider both mentally and physically is my goal.
